Jackwood House Garden
Friday 6th June 2025
A team of nine dedicated volunteers gathered in Jackwood House Garden to help prepare the beds for the upcoming celebration on Sunday 8th June. Over the course of two hours, we weeded, tidied, and made the garden ready to welcome visitors – all while enjoying the early summer colour and company.
The garden is looking wonderful this month, with a mix of plants that not only bring beauty but support local wildlife, too. The foxgloves are tall and striking, loved by pollinators and a great source of seed for future growth. Cranesbill and thyme are doing double duty, helping with pollination and acting as natural ground cover.
We’ve also got valerian and garlic chives – tough, resilient, and a magnet for bees. The lilies are showing off their elegant blooms, and although the poppies weren’t part of our planting, we couldn’t quite bring ourselves to remove them – they’ve become part of the garden’s charm. And finally, a lovely white daisy has joined the mix.
With the hard work done, the garden is now celebration-ready, full of colour, wildlife, and community spirit. A huge thank you to everyone who lent a hand!
