Castle Wood Rose Garden

Saturday 17th May 2025

On Saturday 17th May, seven volunteers gathered for another rewarding Friends of Oxleas Woodlands session, this time in the beautiful Castle Wood Rose Garden. With the sun shining and summer approaching, this is the time of year when the garden is at its best. The weather was wonderful, it was the perfect day to roll up our sleeves and give this special space some much-needed care.

Volunteers spent the morning weeding the rose beds, trimming back the grass edges, and cleaning the steps (with rudimentary tools) to ensure the garden remains a welcoming, peaceful spot for all visitors. The teamwork and dedication on display were fantastic, as always, and it’s heartening to see what a difference a few hours of community effort can make.

Nothing Wasted: Laurel trimmings being used to sweep the steps leading to Castle Wood rose garden.

A big thank you to everyone who joined us – your contribution helps keep Oxleas Woodlands thriving. We look forward to seeing you at the next session!
