Jackwood House Garden

We had six volunteers today in Jackwood House Garden, and one very eager robin to keep us company.

It is such a pleasure to see more flowers revealing themselves with every visit. If you visit this week, don't miss the tulips - they are Red Riding Hood.

Four volunteers fine weeded four of the newly planted beds, before adding bark chippings to three of these. The chippings will help to suppress the weeds, regulate the soil temperature and hold water. The fourth bed has a large amount of bind weed which needs further before we can add the extra layer.

The other two volunteers continued working on the terrace. Digging out brambles, pulling up thistles and bind weed and suppressing the weeds with a thick layer of wood chip. A promising number of old roses have survived and we should have an attractive display here as well this summer.

We will be celebrating the restoration on Sunday 8th June, 2-4pm. Put the date in your diary and join us whilst we bask in the reflected glory of nature's colourful creations.
