Woodland Signage Clean-Up 2

Severndroog Castle Entrance
The second stop on our mission to clean up signage and make our woodlands even more welcoming was one of the main entrances to the woods – the access point by Severndroog Castle and Car Park.

This interpretation sign was badly covered with algae and it was very difficult to read the information. Additionally, the fly-posting detracts from the quality of the board and looks unsightly.
This area proved to be a much bigger task than our work at Shepherdleas. The posts were on a bank and were harder to reach but luckily we had a ladder and a broom.
Attached to this route marker, there were several signs relating to cycling, e-bikes, dog walking and barbecues, all of which had become covered in a thick layer of algae due to their location beneath the trees and the damp weather we've experienced in recent months. Again, these important posters detracted from the post's main purpose and seemed out of place, especially as an unused post stood behind.
We carefully cleaned all the signs, helping to make the information clearer and more visible for visitors. We also cut back encroaching brambles and trimmed overhanging branches to open up the entrance and create a more inviting welcome into the woodland.
It's amazing what a difference a little care and attention can make, and we're delighted with the transformation.
We hope visitors will enjoy a brighter, more welcoming entrance on their next visit!
