Shepherdleas Wood - Sign 1

For a while, we’ve been saddened to see these beautiful entrance signs to the woodlands looking neglected and have often talked about giving them a clean and helping them look their best again, but somehow never quite found the right moment.

Recently, however, the motivation and the time finally came together, so we decided to get stuck in! Armed with a ladder, buckets, sponges, scrubbing brushes, a broom, and three large containers of soapy water, we set to work.

This beautiful woodland deserves a smarter sign.
This beautiful woodland deserves a smarter sign.

Not only is this sign dirty and tatty, but it has also been pushed back.

Additionally, it had an old, broken sign attached to the post.

Still leaning but cleaner.

While we couldn't do anything about the lean on the post, removing the broken sign from it, and giving the whole sign a good clean, has made such a difference to this woodland approach.

Much more welcoming!

All the woodland/traffic grime has been removed, and, at the same time half a sack of litter was picked from this opening area.

Although not perfect, it is much easier to read the information about what walkers might see.

It was rewarding to see these lovely features looking brighter and more welcoming once again. One sign finished, off we went to do a second sign.

We are on a mission!
