Cleared bed under a leaf covered wall
A clear bed! We'll see how long that lasts.

On Friday 9th, 4 of us had a little tidy up and weed in Jackwood. We'd had a big session here in September, so this session focussed on taking our time on the two beds that are a bit more awkward than the others.

On a lovely sunny Sunday a week and change later, more than a dozen of us got together in Jackwood again. With that many people, we got to focus on things that we dont get to every time.

Three of the crew went to work on the bed under the brickwork, clearing the nettles and grass and spreading some of our old woodchip. The vine is looking glorious again this year - its colour is always welcome each autum

A gang of four of us (the most energetic ones) carried on with clearing the old path over to the walled garden. The path is 40m long - when we started you could see maybe a meter. And now, with some help from Good Gym and with quite a lot of sweating, we're 27m along, having removed huge amounts of dirt, shrubbery, brambles, deadwood and small trees. This session saw 7m of path cleared out . We got started on dealing with the small aspen saplings that have sprouted on the bank below the pathway. That area is ideal for bee feeding - and we have a maybe project coming there soon.

The rest of the group focussed up on the terrace. We cleaned the alcoves, swept up the pine needles (there were a lot!), did some weeding, and started cutting back the turf where it has colonised the terrace path - there's more to do there! We also reported the grafitti to the council to repaint over - it wasn't scrubbing off and we don't have the right colour paint!
