Jackwood House Garden

Friday 11th July 2025

With soaring temperatures forecast, today’s volunteer gardening session began bright and early at 8am – a change from our usual Friday afternoon start. The cooler morning air made for a more comfortable yet still warm couple of hours, and our team of seven volunteers made excellent progress across several key areas of Jackwood House Garden.

In the wildlife garden, we carried out some careful selective pruning to keep things healthy and balanced without disturbing the natural feel of the space. Adding to the charm, the phlox have just come into bloom this month – bringing a splash of colour and a gentle fragrance to the garden.

The terrace access steps were thoroughly cleared and are now much easier and safer to navigate – the transformation is captured in our before and after photos.

Along the length of the terrace walk, the main border was tidied and refreshed, giving the whole area a well-kept and welcoming look.

A big thank you to everyone who made the early start. Your time, energy and care make such a visible difference.
