Jack Wood

Another excellent turn-out of 20 volunteers for Friday’s session, clocking up another 58 hours clearing invasive species from the slope above Lower Path in Jack Wood. The native saplings are now bathed in light and will be able to grow in a more upright manner rather than bending to reach the light.

Hopefully, the extra warmth and light will help some dormant wild flower seeds and seeds from our native trees to germinate.

And, of course, a sit-down and chat in the winter sun, half-way through.

A substantial hedge at the junction of Lower Path and one that rises to Middle Path will halt further erosion of the woodland and point people back towards the main route uphill.

Working with others is important in planning the position of the posts and great for getting to know other volunteers too.
