22nd March 2025

Our Saturday Litter-Picking Session coincided perfectly with the Great British Spring Clean.

What a wonderful day it was too - warm, bright weather, birdsong in the woods and great conversations. We were joined by many regular volunteers and we welcomed new ones too, all helping to remove waste and protect the flora, fauna and funga in our ancient woodland.

A full hour alone was spent in Oxleas Car Park by one group, while the other 15 volunteers picked in the surrounding woodlands and meadow and between them collected:

  • A drone!

  • A large tyre ( recovered from our newly dug pond).

  • A boot and an old umbrella.

  • A pile of wood.

  • A metal pole.

  • Gas canisters & lighters.

  • Old plastic tubes from tree planting.

  • Plus over 25 sacks of the usual small litter - chocolate wrappers, drinks bottles, cans and cups, food packaging and numerous bags of dog poo!

Please, please, please bin it or take it home.
