Friends of Oxleas Woodlands
Conservation work
Work parties.
There are three conservation work
parties each month. The Shooters
Hill Woodlands Work Party - which
has been working closely with
Greenwich Council since 1994 - meets
on the 2nd Saturday of the month.
The Friends of Oxleas Woodlands Woodland Conservation Work Party meets on two Fridays per month. Check our calendar for dates, or email us for details.
Work parties meet at 10am and generally continue working in the woods until about 1-2pm.
The work parties consist of volunteers of all ages and undertake a range of tasks, including - clearance of rhododendron and sycamore, dead-hedging construction, ditch clearing, pond renovation, holly reduction, path maintenance etc. No special skills or knowledge is required, and we provide tools. You must provide your own gloves and we recommend clothing and boots suitable for working in woodland (think mud and brambles!) Everyone over the age of 16 is welcome - but expect to get grubby !!!!
